CM ABDULLA MOLAVI: ALSO AN ASTRONOMER


Other than an Islamic scholar he was an astronomer and a spiritual refuge for seekers. and Qazi of 100 mahal including Mangalore city after the demise of late Qazi kota Abdul Khader musliyar. Widely he was known as cm usthad or chembarikka Qazi. Also was a Muslim scholar lived in chembarikka - A small village from Kasaragod district - and he was a former vice president of Samantha Kerala jamiyathul ulama - Muslim organization of Islamic scholar in Kerala - and highly experienced in study of astronomy in Islamic site who made table of azan times -prayer time in Islam- which is Widley used in all masjid for their prayers. He laid foundation for educational institution as in jamiya sa’dia Arabia and Malabar Islamic complex.

 life

born in 1933 September 03 in a great scholarly family in chembarikka as son of late Mohammed khunhi ibn Abdulla Jamari and be Fathima. His father was very respected all over his native and others. Father Mohammed khunhi was a teacher in native who taught for 25 years in chembarikka and also was a qazi. After the death of mohammed musliyar he became the qazi after him. He became spiritual refuge for seekers after his death and he is a perfect in studies and to seek high knowledge. He made hard work for all. As he loves for stars in his childhood as for skies or like that so he became a famous astronomer even being a spiritual scholar.

 Education 

His education starts from his own father Mohammed khunhi musliyar. While studying religious subjects from his father, Qazi continued schooling at the Thalangara Muslim High School and completed the SSLC from there. He got one-year promotion for his well performance and brilliant minds. His teachers wondered because of his exultance interaction and performance. Along with Arabic language and he brilliant in other language as Malayalam, English and Urdu. He became well expert in all the four languages. After SSLC, he continued his education in the traditional mosque colleges at various places in Kerala. He completed the Maulvi Fadhil Baqawi course in 1962 from the famous Baqiyat al-Swalihat Arabic College, Vellore, in Tamil nadu a major Centre of higher Islamic learning in South India established in 1882. Where Shamsul ulama and another famous Muslim scholar were studied. Soon after completing his official religious education he started his teaching career and served as chief Mudarris [teacher] at different mosque-colleges until his father's death. Then he became Qazi after him.

An overview of Kerala Muslim history in the 20th century that shows most of the scholar were spent their lifetime by their spiritual subjects as they didn’t activate in social or in other ways as writing religious theory or like that. They didn’t think to develop the educational system as to build a new system for religious education. However, Qazi Abdulla Maulvi was a different personality from them. Though he thinks differently as to mix the religious and unreligious education in a simple system with some important syllabus for their future. It became as a true story when he built jamiya sa’dia Arabia with the help of kallatra haji where he didn’t hope for a silly money as only for to share the education for new generation. he donated his life for sharing education for others so his whole life was important for education. As his autobiography named as MY STORY IS ALSO FOR EDUCATION - written in Malayalam language- which his whole life is said as how he lived and how he serviced for whole people by education and other works. He wrote ten books in different areas of education as from astronomy and other literacy. he translated various language to Arabic and Malayalam as burdha -written by imam busoori a famous poet in Arabia-translated to Malayalam. and he translated allma Iqbal’s Urdu poem to Arabic which seems the readers as the original copy.

Astronomy skills

He showed amazing interest in exploring the skills in astronomy, mathematics and Qibla sciences. He is well experienced in these field to discover more knowledge of both languages as Arabic and modern English. Gradually he studied more skills by traditional Arabic texts and modern English. He had the habit of observing the movements of stars in the night to study more from knowledge from it and to discover new things to world. He used to prepare timetables of Islamic prayers and of sunrise and sunset through his own risks as he found his whole time to keep a good understanding of even minute time-differences in various places of Kerala and Karnataka. In the annually-published calendar of his institute Malabar Islamic Complex, he included many of his discoveries regarding prayer timings and moon sights, specifically he mentioning certain dates of each month in which there are chances of moon-sighting and in which there is no need to even watch for it. When he was at Malabar Islamic complex his office is similar to a laboratory of astronomer. Where his astronomic instruments are kept in his table including one circular instrument called Dairatul Hindiyya. Some of his colleagues discouraged him from these skills as they thought ‘can an old bearded man can do such skills’ they wondered about him and they became jealous on him. he spends his most time by preparing charts of prayer times, moon-sighting, seasonal changes, designating qibla direction of the mosques and related things. As a result, we can see in all mosques using his prayer table.

 Demise 

Cm Abdulla molavi was seen as dead early morning at chembarikka beach on 15 February 2010 by some black hands. Still now his killers are unknown because the police officers are making blind eyes upon his case. He has been cheated by his close friends and whom with he worked. Now the truth has no evidence it will be prove a day.
